Lost the Trail? Our Dogs Can Help – Wounded Game Recovery in Colorado
What Is Wounded Game Recovery?
Every hunter knows the feeling—you take the shot, the animal bolts, and suddenly the trail goes cold. Sometimes even a good hit doesn’t drop an elk, deer, or bear right away. Tracks fade, blood dries, and daylight runs short.
That’s where we come in. At St. Hubert’s Hounds, our dogs are trained to follow the scent trail, cutting through the guesswork and giving you the best chance to recover your animal. Wounded game recovery not only helps you bring home what you worked hard for—it also ensures no animal is left behind.
From the Field to Your Backyard
The same nose work that powers our recovery dogs is also available as training for everyday dog owners. If you’d like to see your pup use their natural talents in a fun, structured way, check out our Nose Work Training Packages. It’s an adventure your dog will love—even if you’re not chasing elk through the Rockies.
Colorado Wounded Game Recovery
We provide wounded game recovery services across Colorado, helping hunters give their best effort to track down wounded big game like elk, deer, and bear. Our dogs are specially trained for scent detection and recovery, and our handlers know how to read the land and conditions to give you the strongest chance at success.
Pro tip: Call as soon as possible after the shot. The fresher the trail, the better the chances. Mark the last blood spot and avoid disturbing the area until we arrive.
